Biennale of Chianciano 2011 - Siena
from 17th September 2011 at 10:00 a.m. to 24th September 2011 at 07:00 p.m.

From September 17th to 24th, 2011, for one week, the Italian spa town of Chianciano Terme - Siena - will welcome thousands of collectors, gallery representatives and art enthusiasts to the highly anticipated second Biennale of Chianciano.

Talented artists are selected from thousands of hopeful applicants by an expert panel of judges to participate in this prestigious exhibition at the Museum of Art, Chianciano. Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Tuscan countryside, the Museum receives much acclaim and praise, the press coverage reaching as far as the US with a compelling review from The New York Times.

In 2009, the represented nations ranged from Chile to India, Australia to Germany and from the USA to the Philippines, with over 10,000 visitors. The exhibition is staged over approximately 3000 square meters of the Museum and gathers some of the best established as well as emerging talents in the world. Organised and curated by the same team responsible for successful exhibitions at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and Lord Leighton House, the Biennale will repeat the outstanding success of two years ago.

Such is the belief in the talent of these world-class artists, that 300 art galleries from around the world are being hosted in 4* hotels in Chianciano to discover and collaborate with new artists. 30 of the artists will be also selected from the Chianciano Biennale for an exhibition held at an established London gallery with 30 years of experience on the international market.

As well as visiting the exhibition, guests and artists will have the opportunity to visit an Italian province, rich culture and thousands of years of history - the birthplace of Dante Alighieri, Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Galileo. Visitors can explore the countryside, that for so long has been an inspiration to poets and artists alike - in both its stunning architecture and natural beauty. Chianciano’s appeal does not end there. Its provincial charm extends to the famous thermal springs, and quintessential restaurants, serving homemade pasta and the local wines of Montepulciano and Montalcino.

Within this romantic milieu, the work of hundreds of artists will be exhibited and judged by a panel of prestigious judges, visitors will experience a breathtaking exhibition of exceptional art from around the world.
The Biennale will transform the town of Chianciano into a hub of cultural diversity where artists, curators, gallery owners and art lovers will be able to meet one another, encouraging debate and the exchange of ideas, with events ranging from a charity auction to the “Biennale in Musica” concert.

The Museum is ideally situated is in the centre of Chianciano Terme, the most important spa town in Italy, and close to Siena, Perugia, Florence and Rome.

The exhibition will run from 17th to 24th September, open from 10am-12am and 4pm-7pm.

Admission is free.
