The Art Collection of the Cassa di Risparmio di Pisa (the local savings bank) preserves works of art which are linked to the cultural and artistic life of Pisa in having been painted by artists who were born, lived, or had a relationship with Pisa.
The medieval and modern painting sections of the collection have been considerably enlarged over the past fifteen years. The 360-plus exhibits, covering a vast time span ranging from the 14th to the 20th century, are valuable testimonies of Pisa's history.
Notable works include a polyptych by Cecco di Pietro, sacred images by Francesco Neri of Volterra, Benozzo Gozzoli, the Della Robbia workshop, and paintings by Reni, Foppa, Tempesti and Poli and by the great 20th-century Pisan masters Carlini, Viviani and Severini.
The Foundation has recently acquired a collection of portraits of the Roncioni family, painted by Desmarais at the end of the 18th century.
