The Church of Santa Chiara, located near the Field of Miracles, is named after St. Clare of Assisi.
The present church, adjoining Santa Chiara Hospital, was built in 1784 after the demolition of the original 13th-century building. The left altar preserves a 14th-century wooden crucifix and the ''thorn from Christ''s crown'' that was moved here in the 19th century from the Church of Santa Maria della Spina on the Lungarno Gambacorti.
