The Tower of Palazzo Vecchio was built by Arnolfo di Cambio nel 1299, along with the Palazzo della Signoria, which it is incorporated to.
It is probably supported by an even more antique tower called torre de' Foraboschi.
About 94 metres high, the tower of palazzo Vecchio has many times risked to collapse, but it has always remained intact with the great relief of the Florentines whom consider it one of the symbols of the city.
