The construction of the present church dates back to the late 13th century. The Church of San Francesco has a beautiful two colours marble (alberese and serpentine stone) facade with a fine portal and triangular Renaissance style tympanum, which have been probably designed by Giuliano da Sangallo.
The one-nave interior is crowned with 3 apse chapels and contains the tomb of Geminiano Inghirami, probably by Rossellino. It is to notice the tomb of Francesco di Marco Datini (a 14th century work of art by Nicolo' Lamberti) and a wooden Crucifix (15th century).
A 15th c. frescoed cloister lined with some memorial tablets leads to the Migliorati chapel, where it is worthwhile admiring the 14th cycle of frescoes by Niccolo' di Pietro Gerini.
